Giant is a virtual reality short narrative that transports the viewer into the experience of a family struggling to survive in an active war zone. The collaboration between Milica and Winslow combines the former's ability to portray complex and emotional topics through artistic storytelling with the latter's vast experience in emerging multimedia technology, in order to address urgent human topics. Giant premiered in the US at Sundance Film Festival's New Frontier, and in Europe at Cannes Film Festival.
Milica Zec is a New York City-based film and virtual reality director, editor, and screenwriter. Giant is her directorial debut in virtual reality. Milica has been collaborating for nine years with the performance artist Marina Abramovic on numerous projects, including MoMA’s The Artist is Present, and the successful Kickstarter campaign for Marina Abramovic Institute.
Winslow Turner Porter III is a Brooklyn-based director, producer, and creative technologist, specializing in virtual reality and large-scale immersive experiential installations. He has always been fascinated with the possibilities of how the intersection of art and technology can elevate storytelling. Winslow started out as a feature film editor, but pivoted into art and tech after graduating from New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program in 2010. With over six years of experiential work, he has helped create experiences for Google, Delta, Diesel, Merrell, and Wired. Winslow also produced the award-winning documentary CLOUDS, among other acclaimed projects. Giant is Winslow’s 5th virtual reality project.
