Preeti Sodhi is an urban planner who approaches community development in a manner that is connected to space, place and context. With 10+ years working with neighborhoods across NYC, she understands the importance of cultivating strategies that cater to specific community stated needs. She is the Founder of Downtown Planning Lab, a practice in urbanism that helps communities actualize their own vision for their built environment. As the Project Director at Spaceworks, she led the development of cultural facilities that have provided free/low-cost workspace for 20,000+ NYC artists & residents to date. She also developed a grant-winning, organizational racial equity prototype for the organization through the Race Forward Racial Equity in the Arts Innovation Lab. As a Design Fellow with Architecture for Humanity, she managed the redevelopment of the LES Skatepark. Preeti is the Founder of Hello Voter, an initiative engaging New Yorkers with local government through voter registration and education workshops.
