Bruce Nussbaum

Nussbaum advises organizations and individuals on narrative reframing, creative scaling, cultural branding and design futures. He’s been a mentor at NEW INC from Year One.

Nussbaum was a Professor of Innovation and Design Strategy at Parsons The New School of Design. He was Assistant Managing Editor, Editorial Page Editor of BusinessWeek and Design Editor, launching the magazine’s coverage of design. He fostered BusinessWeek’s coverage of the annual Industrial Designer Excellence Awards, the Most Innovative Companies annual survey and the S&P/BusinessWeek Global Innovation Index.

He is founder of the NussbaumOnDesign blog, the Innovation & Design online channel, IN:Inside Innovation online and paper magazine and Meet the Innovation Guru web show. He was a regular contributor to Fast Company and in 2005 he was named one of the 40 most influential people in design by ID Magazine. Bill Moggridge, IDEO co-founder and Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum director described Nussbaum as one of the 37 most influential designers of media.

Nussbaum is the author of Creative Intelligence, which shows people how to increase their creative capacities, Good Intentions, an inside look at Anthony Fauci and AIDS research at the NIH and the rise of Act Up in response to its failures, and The World After Oil: The Shifting Axis of Power and Wealth, which predicted the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Nussbaum was in the Peace Corps and believes in deep listening and seeing before acting.
