Ida Momennejad

Ida Momennejad is an interdisciplinary scientist and artist. Scientifically they combine cognitive neuroscience and AI to investigate how brains build models of the world that shape their memory and planning, and builds AI inspired by this research (including AI for Xbox, reinforcement learning, and large language models). They currently lead related projects at Microsoft Research NYC, and regularly publish and present their scientific work. They were a member of the association of Neuroesthetics while in Berlin, and collaborated with a number of interdisciplinary artists, including Seeing with eyes closed with Ivana Franke, film maker Azin Feyzabadi, and dance projects with choreographers Luise Wagner & Jess Curtis. They also served on the jury of TADAEX (Tehran annual digital art exhibition) for a couple of years. In most art projects they serve as a scientific cocreator, vocalist/narrator, or writer. They’ve displayed and presented work at the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin, Peggy Guggenheim museum in Venice, Lauba in Zagreb, Parson's the new school for design in NYC, Radial System V in Berlin, and Instiute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in London. These days Ida is finishing their debut speculative fiction novel and making music.
