Scarlett Kim

Scarlett Kim is a diasporic Korean creative producer, artist, and director committed to radical paradigm shifts and unclassifiable experiences at the intersection of live performance and emerging technology. She recently completed her tenure as the inaugural Director of Innovation & Strategy at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, among the largest and most historic theaters in North America, where she helmed 70+ projects across physical and virtual platforms with a focus on bold new work expanding the definition of theatre.

Currently, Scarlett is collaborating with ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center to produce the inaugural Worlds in Play, a gathering of play practitioners—game and theatre artists—exploring new forms of agency in storytelling and experience, and producing the tenth anniversary edition of the Live Arts Exchange [LAX] Festival with Los Angeles Performance Practice.

Highlights of her 10+ year journey as an arts leader include founding and serving as Artistic Director of The Mortuary, a performance laboratory dedicated to unclassifiable experiments. At CultureHub, a global art and technology studio, Scarlett oversaw artistic programming of the LA studio, spearheading Re-Fest, an annual art + technology + activism festival. Other recent partners include REDCAT, Park Avenue Armory, VAST, East West Players, Prague Quadrennial, Korea Foundation, Chilean National Council of Culture & Arts, and La MaMa Umbria.

An innovation leader recognized for her cross-industry leadership across performing arts and immersive technology fields, Scarlett has been featured at global platforms including SXSW, SIGGRAPH, United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Augmented World Expo, Immersive Experience Institute, and Directors Lab West.
