Tajah Ellis

Otherwise known as OUTOFSEAM, Tajah Ellis’ work encompasses an intuitive approach to the cyclical nature of re/de-construction. Merging alchemy and artistry, OUTOFSEAM explores chemical processes through experimentation of organic matter. Enraptured by various mediums of inquiry, OUTOFSEAM’s dynamic and layered approach is complemented by collaborative efforts in research, material exploration and organic mapping emergence. By revitalizing discarded matter into several life cycles, OOS grounds agricultural sustenance within a megalopolitan context, rooted in chemistry, culture and creation.

OUTOFSEAM has been a recent participant of TEXTERE, as an Independent Fiber Arts Resident and recipient of a Bio-Inspired Design Certification at the University of Arts London. You may continue to find her leading community building projects through natural dyes IRL in her native hometown of Brooklyn + URL, exploring worldwide.
