Liyu Xue
Liyu Xue is an architect and artist based in Los Angeles. He received his Master of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute, where he also studied performance and fine art. In 2022, Liyu founded STAAY, a studio with a unique focus on experiential design, interior design, curation, and public art. His personal roots and cultural ties to Chinese practices like I Ching, Feng Shui, and Chi strongly inform his creative approach. STAAY's vision transcends conventional aesthetics; it's about manifesting spaces that allow individuals to delve deep into their thoughts and emotions through spatial expressions and curated sensory experiences. In just over a year, Liyu has turned STAAY into a design powerhouse, forging partnerships with Netflix, Square, Quickbooks, Breakthrough Energy, DTLA Arts District, and beyond.
Liyu is a creative force transforming art and culture through mixed reality. He's leading the multi-phase public art project, 21.X River Miles, to renew the connection between the LA River and the local community. His mixed-reality performance, 60s,24h, expands our understanding of what performance means outside of conscious thought or intentionality.
