Ṭaüs Jafar

Ṭaüs Jafar (طاووس) is a transdisciplinary artist who specializes in sound and sensual-perceptual acuity. Without being tethered to medium or genre, his creative output is bold, raw, and confidently vulnerable. A trained and practicing non-dualist teacher, his work explores openings into ecstatic state and poetic eroticism through the lens of queer liminality. The resulting creations are a distillation of the eclectic cultural, geographical, and identity experiences of a trans child of the Arab diaspora.

Ṭaüs’ music, performance, meditations, film, video game and installation score and design have been featured at The New Museum of Contemporary Art, Harvard University, VEVO, Gray Area, Indiana State Museum, Opus 40, Northeastern University School of Architecture, and on stations and platforms such as KCRW, NPR, Max, and Netflix. He is an Ideas City (Detroit) and NEW INC alumna. In 2022, Ṭaüs became Partner and CCO of Lo Fi music.

Ṭaüs centers and nurtures peace, wonder, and curiosity in his creative practice.
